In the competition in Valmiera, we will see Eddy Clerte, the elite men’s bronze medalist of the 2023 European Championship from France, and Loris Aeberhard, the winner of the previous stage from Switzerland, as well as leading Latvian riders. 193 athletes will represent Latvia in the home stages, including Latvia’s best elite driver Kristens Krīgers. Needless to say, Kristen will represent Latvia at the Olympic Games in Paris this year. Well-known athletes such as Vineta Pētersone, Edgars Langmanis, Kārlis Pedraudzis, Mārtiņš Emīls Treimanis, Paula Kibare and others will also participate in the competition.
The stages of the UEC European Cup in BMX cycling will be held in Valmiera for the third year in a row. This year, the number of participants is consistently high – 500 athletes have applied in the elite, U23, junior, youth, children and amateur groups. Not only Europe’s leading BMX riders, but also representatives from Canada, Ireland and Colombia will compete for prizes. This competition annually gathers more than 1000 live spectators from all over the world.
On both days – Saturday and Sunday – the competition will start at 11.05, when we will see elite, U23, junior and senior youth group athletes on the track. The finals are expected around 16.00.
We invite you to take the opportunity and attend this high-level BMX competition in person at the Maris Strombergs BMX track “Valmiera”. Entry to the event is free on both race days. Also, free parking in front of the BMX track will be available for city and competition visitors. The organizers of the competition will have taken care of delicious food and drinks, as well as activities for the smallest visitors of the event.
In 2025, Valmiera will proudly host the UEC European Championship in BMX cycling, which has already been marked on next year’s calendar. The competition will take place on July 12 and 13, 2025, at the Maris Strombergs BMX track “Valmiera”.
