The Nordic BMX Championship and the 8th stage of the Latvian Cup will take place in Valmiera

On September 9, the BMX cycling championship of the Nordic countries (UCI C1 category) will take place on the track named after Maris Strombergs in Valmiera. Meanwhile, on Sunday, September 10, the competition of the eighth stage of the “Crystal Dent BMX Cup of Latvia” will take place there.

The Nordic BMX Championship is moving from Finland to Latvia this year. The big event will be hosted by Maris Stromberg’s BMX track, which has been hosting high-level BMX competitions since 2019, when the UEC European Championship took place here. For the last two years, Valmiera hosts UEC European Cup stage competitions.

A large number of athletes from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and Norway have applied for this year’s Nordic Championship. In addition to the prestige of the competition, the acquired status of the International Cycling Union (UCI) C1 category will allow athletes to also compete for important world ranking points.

On Saturday, the start of the competition is expected from 11.00. At the beginning, the athletes will perform three heats, followed by elimination heats, determining the Nordic champions in a total of 31 age and skill groups.

Meanwhile, the eighth out of ten stages of the “Crystal Dent” BMX Latvian Cup season will take place there from 11:00 on Sunday. The entrance is free on both days.
