On May 6 and 7, the strongest European BMX cyclists will gather at the Maris Strombergs BMX track “Valmiera” to find out the winners of rounds 5 and 6 of the European Cup 2023.
The European Cup organized by the Union of European Cycling (UEC) is the largest and most prestigious BMX competition series in Europe, where athletes also fight for valuable UCI ranking points. In general, the winners in the “Championship” category in the elite, U23 and junior groups, and in the “Challenge” category in the children, youth and cruiser groups will be determined in both stages of the competition at the Māra Štromberga BMX track “Valmiera”. The best domestic athletes will take part in the start, as well as the opportunity to see European and world-class riders in person. At the moment, the application for participation in this ambitious sports event has already started, and it will take place until April 17.
From March 21, the Maris Strombergs BMX track “Valmiera” is already open for training to anyone interested, and on April 29, the first competition of the season will take place here – the “Valmiera Olympic Center Cup 2023”. It will be a great opportunity for athletes to ride the track even before the stages of the European Cup.
It should be mentioned that at the end of 2022, the UEC granted the official status of Northern European BMX center to the Maris Strombergs BMX track “Valmiera” – the badge of honor was personally presented by the president of the UEC, Enrico Della Casa. In addition to high-level competitions, international-level training camps and various educational events for judges, coaches and athletes will also take place here.
