Cruiser Class Opens the 2025 UEC BMX European Championships in Valmiera

On Friday, July 11, the 2025 UEC BMX European Championships kicked off with Cruiser class races at the Māris Štrombergs BMX track “Valmiera.” A total of 199 riders from across Europe competed for the first set of championship medals across 12 different age categories.

On this day, podium places were claimed by riders from France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Belgium, Latvia, and other countries.

Key highlights from the Cruiser finals:
Jill Vogelpoel from the Netherlands (Women 17–29) secured a convincing victory, remaining unbeaten in all races.
French rider Malika Fallot Peulot triumphed in the Women 30+ final, holding off fellow French competitors.
Léonie Burgel (France) dominated the Girls under 16 category, winning every race.
Nicolas Taris (France) was crowned European Champion in the Men 50+ category, delivering flawless performances in both qualifying and the final.
Matt Barnard from Great Britain took gold in the Men 45–49 Cruiser group, winning all races.
Terence Tornabene (France) claimed victory in the competitive Men 40–44 category, while Latvia’s favorite Ģirts Jonkus finished 3rd, narrowly missing out on his fourth consecutive title.
Thibaud Chauvin (France) delivered a strong ride to win the Men 30–39 category.
Jérémy Serazin (France) outpaced Latvian riders to become Men 25–29 European Champion.
Sem van Dijken from the Netherlands (Boys up to 12) and Belgian rider Gust Lenaerts (Boys 13/14) both took European titles undefeated.
Thijs Wynants from Belgium won the Boys 15/16 category, adding another gold for his country.
French rider Enzo Crespin beat Great Britain’s Alex Brookes in the final to become the 17–24 Cruiser European Champion.

The Cruiser races provided a strong start to the three-day championship program.
The competition will continue todayon Saturday, July 12, with Championship category races featuring Europe’s top juniors, U23, and elite riders. Warm-up begins at 9:15 AM, with the first races starting at 12:05 PM. Finals and the award ceremony are scheduled from 3:50 PM.

On Sunday, the future stars will compete on the track – participants in the European Challenge categories aged 8 to 17+. Race starts at 10:00 AM and finals are set for 3:30 PM, followed by the official awards ceremony.
