This weekend, May 6 and 7, the fifth and sixth stages of the UEC (European Cycling Union) European Cup BMX cycling competition will take place at the Maris Strombergs BMX track, where 561 athletes from 23 countries have confirmed their participation.
In Valmiera, we will see European elite men’s champion Kye Whyte from Great Britain, his compatriot Ross Cullen, winner of the previous stage, European Cup leader Ruben Gommers from Belgium, one of France’s best drivers Romain Mayet Mahieu), as well as leading Latvian drivers. 211 athletes will represent Latvia in the home stages, including Latvian champion Kristens Krīgers, world junior vice-champion Veronika Monika Stūriška, winner of the fourth place of the European Championship Vineta Pētersone, as well as well-known athletes such as Paula Kibare, Edgars Langmanis, Kārlis Pedraudzis, Mārtiņš Emīls Treimanis and others.
The stages of the UEC European Cup in BMX cycling will be held in Valmiera for the second year in a row. This year, the number of participants has increased significantly – more than half a thousand athletes have applied in the elite, U23, junior, youth, children and amateur groups, not only leading European BMX riders, but also representatives from Colombia and New Zealand will compete for prizes.
On Saturday, the fifth stage competition will start at 10.15, when we will see elite, U23, junior and senior youth group athletes on the track. The finals are expected after 12.30 p.m. On the other hand, from At 14.45, representatives of children, youth and amateur groups will start the competition of the fifth stage.
On Sunday, the competition of the sixth stage will start from 9.15 with elite, U23, junior and 15/16-year-old youth competitions. Finals for these categories are expected from 11.30 a.m. On the second day, the children’s, youth and amateur competitions will start from 13.25, but the finals are planned around 16.00
We invite you to take advantage of the opportunity and attend a high-level BMX competition in person at the Maris Strombergs BMX track. Entrance tickets can be purchased at the venue of the competition – the entrance fee for a two-day visit is set at 10 euros, the received wristbands will allow you to visit the competition without restrictions. Children aged up to 12 years inclusive, pensioners and people with disabilities will have free entry to the competition.
